Review: Parker's Honor by Rory Michaels & Mandy M Roth

eBook, 79 pages per Kindle
Published May 14th 2012 by Raven Books
ISBN 13: 9781452447414
Source: Publisher, for the purpose of an honest review
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Series: Cowboys and Supernaturals, book #2
Best read in order: no, each works as a stand-alone
Stars: 4
Flames: 3

The second book in the Cowboys and Supernaturals series begins where the first book does. With Parker’s Honor readers follow Parker and Lynn, instead of Jonathan and Molly. Some of the events at the very beginning are the same as in Blaze of Glory but your following Parker and Lynn and they eventually go in a completely different direction and it is their story. I liked this. I knew from reading the first book that these two would get together, but reading how it all unfolded from the moment they met was great.

Lynn comes into Prospect Springs hoping to help her friend Molly by attempting to impersonate her thus getting the people chasing her headed into the wrong direction. The MacSweeny’s and their shifter senses immediately pick up on Lynn not smelling like Molly. Before Lynn’s true identity is discovered a band of outlaws transport into town and all hell breaks loose. Parker does what his shifter instincts tell him to, protect his woman.

Parker and Lynn have a swift yet companionable romance. They make sense as a couple. The have even more in common than they could have ever imagined, especially once the secrets of Lynn’s past start to come out. Pops and Momma MacSweeny are a hoot to read. I can easily imagine any grandbaby hungry mama doing exactly what Parker’s mother does.

The Cowboys and Supernaturals series has a unique blend of several genres. Due to The Great Sickness people have been forced to live in conditions of centuries past. The setting is clearly western. Some technological advancements survived the fall of the planet as we know it so the series has a mild steampunk feel. The ability to travel through teleportation gives it the sci fi edge. The sexy MacSweeny family brings the paranormal element into the mix, as they are shifters. Mandy and Rory have created a world where many genres come together wonderfully.

Review: Blaze of Glory by Mandy M Roth & Rory Michaels

By: Mandy M Roth & Rory Michaels (author website)

eBook, 63 pages
Published September 8th 2011 by Raven Books (first published September 7th 2011)
ISBN 13: 9781452422169
Source: author for the purpose of an honest review
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Series: Cowboys and Supernaturals, book #1
Stars: 4
Flames: 5

Blaze of Glory is set in 2807. The Earth is not how we know it today. Catastrophic events have left the planet a very different place. It is now a place where people ride steel steeds, pack law trumps human laws, Special Marshalls hunt paranormal beings and women are always owned by either their father or their spouse.

Molly ran from the town she grew up in. She ran from a man who harmed her. In running she also ran from the one man she ever loved. It has been years since she ran and she is no longer that scared girl. She is now a hellcat of a Special Marshall. She wears a badge, totes a gun and doesn’t let anyone harm her. She has grown in to one tough woman. She’s a tough woman who won’t let a man make her decisions for her.

Jonathan gets the best news and the worst news of his life all in one sentence. Molly has returned home to marry. The problem is her father has not married her off to him. Molly’s father has married her off to the man who harmed her and thus ran her off. Jonathan only sees one solution, go get his woman. He’s not going to let either of her two fiancées stand in his way.

This novella is full of action, a futuristic twist on the old west complete with cowboys and shifters. Roth has introduced her readers to an entire family of hot shifter men to keep the series going and a Special Marshall sidekick in the form of Cole to keep you salivating for the next book. I enjoyed the futuristic twist on the old west. I have every intention of continuing reading this series.

My only dislike is the complete personality change that Molly did. She starts out fighting tough, foul mouthed, ass kicking law enforcement official who makes her own rules consequences be damned. When the readers are given the final climatic fight scene where the man her father betrothed her to comes to collect her, she just hangs back on the front porch in a dress and lets Jonathan and Cole handle the majority of the situation.

I love this erotic short novella series. They are a perfect short read when you are looking for something quick to read. I like to read a mix of books. These novellas work great just to break the monotony up. I read mostly paranormals with varying degrees of sexual heat. I think this series works perfectly to whet my pallet with something different. I know when I sit down to read any of the Macon Valley Menage books that I’m going to get an erotic filled tale of two male lovers finding their one special female.

Tony and Carver have had a sexual relationship for years. They have always been on the lookout for the one woman to bring into their lives. Vicki is that woman. The problem is that she has been seeing Tony and he’s asked her to keep their relationship a secret. He has been keeping their relationship a secret from his lover, Carver. Things come to the breaking point when Vicki is tired of feeling like Tony’s dirty little secret and Carver finally informs Vicki of his attraction to her. Now Carver and Tony need to make her see that they both want her and that she is the perfect woman to fill the void in their imperfect relationship.

Review: The Unforgettable by Rory Michaels

eBook, 26 pages
Published May 16th 2011 by Raven Books
ISBN 13: 2940012571786
Source: Purchased for self
Genre: Erotic Romance, Ménage, Western
Series: Macon Valley Ménage, book #4
Best read in order: no, each works as a stand alone
Stars: 4
Flames: 5

The Unforgettable is strictly male-female-male ménage. Lyle and Levi are twin brothers, thus it would be creepy any other way. They want Sally. They have admired Sally from afar for way too long. Lyle finally decided to ask Sally on a date. Lyle and Levi knew it was only a matter of time before one of them did.

They have decided it is time to see that the three of them get their happily ever after. Sally has longed for the twins for a while. She is ecstatic when she finds out they both want her. After the twins shut down their bar one night the trio finally explore all of their romantic options.

One of the aspects that I like most about the Macon Valley Ménage series is the fact that each book works as a stand-alone. You can pick up book #3 and not have any clue that there was a book #1. I’ve only read 2 other series that worked that way. It is nice to find others.

I would love to read a full length novel by Rory. She writes extremely hot sex scenes. She also gives her characters a strong romantic connection in such few pages.

Review: The Unspoken by Rory Michaels

eBook, 17 pages
Published February 28th 2011 by Raven Books

Genre: Erotic Romance, Menage
Best read in order: no, each works as a stand alone
Stars: 4
Flames: 5

Clay and Wyatt have wanted Harley as long as they can remember. They never acted upon their desire for her, felt she was too young for what they wanted from her. Having recently come home from the service they have decided that during their time away she has matured enough to be what they expect her to be in their lives.

Harley has very patiently waited for the day that she can be with Clay and Wyatt. She knows they have shared each other and she is hoping to finally get in their bed. Once again knowing, but not having it in print to read, Wyatt and Clay have been together and I would have loved to have read that. The sizzling hot ménage scenes in The Unspoken are strictly male-female-male, with whispers of the possibility of male-male-female.

I recommend reading the Macon Valley Ménage series weeks, possibly months apart. I read all four in one sitting. As a whole they are a bit repetitious and very similar. Separately they are extremely erotic, very enjoyable ménage reads.

Out of the four books in the Macon Valley Ménage series, The Untold is my favorite. Going into it I thought I may have some issues with Cody and Nicole being a married couple. I thought I would have home wrecking cheater thoughts. This never happened. Cody and Nicole agreed to bring a third party into their bed.

I would have loved to see more action between Cody and Everett. It is mentioned that they have a sexual history. They have not only shared women, but each other. There is some mild male-male petting, but nothing more. The sex scenes involving Nicole and the two men are extremely hot and well written.

Review: The Unexpected by Rory Michaels

eBook, 0 pages

Very appropriately titled novella. I did not expect to enjoy this. I’ve never read anything with a cowboy in it that I found particularly interesting. I’m currently thinking I need to head west in a dually with a trailer full of horses and see if I can’t find this Macon Valley and then a couple cowboys.

Perry and Jesse are happily engaged and just a few short weeks away from the big day. Perry has shared numerous women with Sean in the past. Perry and Sean have always wanted a woman to share, permanently. They are hoping that Jesse is the girl for them. Now they just have to introduce her into their lifestyle.

The Unexpected is male-female-male ménage. It is mentioned that Perry and Sean have enjoyed each other intimately, but they do not in this novella. That was a huge disappointment for me. The sizzling trio knowing each other from the very beginning of the novella worked wonderfully. It allowed for them to fall into to the numerous scorching sex scenes quickly.

I will definitely read more of this delicious series!
