The second book in the Cowboys and Supernaturals series begins where
the first book does. With Parker’s Honor
readers follow Parker and Lynn, instead of Jonathan and Molly. Some of the
events at the very beginning are the same as in Blaze of Glory but your following Parker and Lynn and they
eventually go in a completely different direction and it is their story. I
liked this. I knew from reading the first book that these two would get
together, but reading how it all unfolded from the moment they met was great.
Lynn comes into Prospect Springs hoping to help her friend Molly by attempting
to impersonate her thus getting the people chasing her headed into the wrong
direction. The MacSweeny’s and their shifter senses immediately pick up on Lynn
not smelling like Molly. Before Lynn’s true identity is discovered a band of
outlaws transport into town and all hell breaks loose. Parker does what his
shifter instincts tell him to, protect his woman.
Parker and Lynn have a swift yet companionable romance. They make sense
as a couple. The have even more in common than they could have ever imagined,
especially once the secrets of Lynn’s past start to come out. Pops and Momma
MacSweeny are a hoot to read. I can easily imagine any grandbaby hungry mama
doing exactly what Parker’s mother does.
The Cowboys and Supernaturals series has a unique blend of several
genres. Due to The Great Sickness people have been forced to live in conditions
of centuries past. The setting is clearly western. Some technological advancements
survived the fall of the planet as we know it so the series has a mild
steampunk feel. The ability to travel through teleportation gives it the sci fi
edge. The sexy MacSweeny family brings the paranormal element into the mix, as they
are shifters. Mandy and Rory have created a world where many genres come
together wonderfully.
