Summary from Goodreads
Twenty year old Ford Fischer is a serial slasher desperately trying to resist the lure of the blade. After taking a life, Ford's regret consumes him, leading him to self-mutilate his hand in hopes of preventing further mayhem. All the while a series of family issues threaten to sidetrack his quest for mental stability. His drug abusing mother disappears after an argument between her and Ford; leaving him sole caretaker of his transgender parent, whose life is slowly deteriorating from a mysterious illness. The parental strain leads him to weigh the strength of his bond with the two divorcees. Just as Ford feels nothing more could go wrong, he finds himself in the middle of a slashing spree - the victims being slashers themselves. He's forced to play the role of detective to avoid becoming suspect, or worse, a victim. As slasher after slasher is eliminated, Ford seeks out the blade-friendly stalker with the morally conflicted mindset "slash or be slashed." MAD MORAL is the world of Ford Fischer, where in murderous stuffed animals, demonic possessions, gigantic creepy crawlers, knife wielding slashers and much more madness are common place. Fischer, coupled with a romantically conflicted exorcist and a dreamer who redefines night terrors, leads us through a twisted world that can be best defined as one of a kind.

Review

I was a little stuck on how to rate this book. I enjoyed the majority of the book but I had a couple problems with parts of it. The problems I had were not so much that I didn’t like it I just didn’t like the way tose parts fit together with the rest of the story. I am going to give this one 3.5 stars. Also above are the two different covers that I found. I really like the second one.
Ford is the main character in the story and I connected with Ford. I understood why he did what he did in his own twisted way. He couldn’t help it but he did not want to slash. I loved the Slashers Anonymous meetings. You see Ford grow and become a better person in this story, not cured but better. Ford also has home issues. His father has become his “other mother” through surgery and his real mother has gotten in to drugs and made some bad decisions. I did like how this turned out for them and the journey getting there was quite a read. The family had to go through a serial slasher killing other slashers, an alien abduction, and a mirror that seemed to enjoy teaching people a lesson on vanity.
Sidnee is an exorcist. She hears the demons that are trying to possess people at their weakest moments and she can also communicate with them. Sidnee is there to try to save the people from possession. The people closest to her are the ones most in danger of possession so as a result she doesn’t get close to many people. I liked Sidnee she also really grows in this story and starts to really grasp her future as an exorcist.
Milo is a police officer at the start of the story who suffers from real nightmares. When he sleeps any injury he receives is with him when he wakes up. He also has to wake up  before he is killed in his dreams or he will die for real. After he is fired from his job for taking care of the gigantic spider he takes off on a drive through the country to discover himself. Along the way he encounters a horde of zombies that wipe out an entire town, another slasher, and a town/cult that takes him in on the eve of their mass suicide. He then decides to head home where he encounters a woman that claims she was abducted by aliens. I think that him not connecting with people may be the reason why I just didn’t like him as much as the other two main characters. He was always looking for an opportunity to be a hero. The situations that he found himself in just felt a little forced and a little unbelievable even in this mad world.
As far as the plot of the story goes this was a very good slasher book (which I have never read one before) but in my opinion it was really good and introduced some new ideas to the slashing lifestyle. However when Milo was introduced I felt like the sci-fi part of the story went off the deep end. The gigantic spiders kind of blindsided me and later on the zombies. They were a good shock factor in this story but it didn’t completely work for me. Sidnee the exorcist and Ford’s storylines seemed to go together and complement each other well. I also loved Rubble’s back story and just his general character through the story. You loved to hate him but later felt a little sorry for him after you hear his story. I will say this though I think Rubble could have his own story. By the way Rubble is a really a young man that was transformed into a stuffed teddy bear by a witch when he betrayed her. Rubble was give to Ford when he was a younger boy.
All in all this was a good book and it takes you on a wild ride. I recommend this book to anyone looking for something different or just looking for an escape from the real world. This town that the characters live in was a very eventful town and I am glad I do not live there. I would like to read the next book in the series.
