Did someone say car chase?
Yep! What is drama without a good ol’ car chase. There is just something about a woman driving a car like Dale Earnhardt, while barely escaping the clutches of evil-doers. Anyone agree? We are big on romance, but we have to have the drama with it. And nothing demonstrates that better than a classic “run for your life” scene where heroine is wild and out of control behind the wheel of a car. And we are saying this because? This was a must have for Flesh and Feathers. At one point in the book we have our heroine, Azaleigh, racing away in a car while fishing-tail, and barely missing a crashing building. We will tell you that she isn’t driving, but the scene was intense for us. It’s one of those moments where you are holding your book and leap to your feet – bouncing up and down… at least we were when we were writing it. LOL. It may be a little cliché, but car-chases are bad-ass. Any great movie (drama), has had one. Or at least ones we’ve seen. Maybe it’s because it’s a moment that can go terribly wrong and it climaxes… the longer it goes on, the faster the car goes… the more danger there is. Even though Flesh and Feathers has other moments that could be considered more intense, something as simple as a car-chase was the most powerful for us. Gotta love some screeching tires!

Azaleigh's life is simple until, by chance, she meets Kale. Charming and handsome, Az is immediately drawn to him. But long kept secrets lurk in the hearts of those Az holds most dear, and dangerous plans are unfolding around her. As her life begins to crumble and Kale disappears, Gage, charismatic and striking, arrives, providing a calm port in an increasingly violent storm. But with every narrow escape from a far from human bounty hunter who's after her life, Az begins to unravel a secret with the power to change her forever. In an increasingly hostile world of Angel and Fallen, Azaleigh must navigate her own path, chose her own side, and ultimately protect her heart. Faced with two gorgeous men, an enemy she doesn’t know, and a future she cannot understand, Az must make a choice—the man she loves, or the man she cannot live without.

April Fifer grew up in a small town in Virginia, where it was common practice believing that dreams could only be found in stories. At the age of seven she was diagnosed with dyslexia. She was told that she would struggle through life and would never pick up a book to read for pleasure. Although school was hard, she was able to find her way with the help of two teachers who taught her self-discovery. Ignoring what she was taught growing up, she turned it around and found that your dreams could become stories.

So I think that my favorite car chase is definitely an oldie...Smokey and the Bandit.... with Burt Reynolds and Sally Fields. I know it's an old movie but I still think it is awesome and pre-computerization.

I am going back away and have to admit the car chase scene with "Bandit" Burt Reynolds and Sally Fields in the first " Smokey and The Bandit" with Sheriff Buford is still my #1 favorite. After that any chase scene with Enos or Roscoe after Beau and Luke in the "Dukes of Hazaard" television show, that always cracked me up!
ReplyDeleteHaving totally absorbed book 1 in the series looking forward to release of book 2.
