Rose Pressey has been kind enough to stop by today for an interview and giveaway. Thank you Rose so very much for doing this interview and giveaway too. I truly appreciate
it.
Vanessa: Would
you like to start off by telling us a little bit about yourself?
Rose: I
live in Kentucky with my husband and son. When I’m not writing, I love reading,
music, bargain shopping and paranormal anything.
Vanessa: I
read that you have some special small and furries in your life. I am also owned
by two Chihuahuas, Mr Tiki and Taco. I would love to know about the two
Chihuahuas that own you. What are their names? What is an interesting
personality quirk of your babies?
Rose: Well,
my oldest recently passed away after a long illness. He was my best friend.
Losing him was one of the most painful things I’ve ever experienced. My
youngest Chihuahua has had a tough time dealing with the loss as well. But he’s
doing better. My oldest Chihuahua’s name was Sopchoppy. The baby, who is now
seven years old, his name is Elvis. He’s a sassy long-haired Chihuahua. He
loves to talk. He always speaks when asked.
Vanessa: So sorry to hear about your Sopchoppy passing.
Vanessa: How
did you celebrate the publishing of your first book?
Rose: I
cried when I got my first offer from a publisher. But I didn’t actually
celebrate with anything special. Ultimately, that deal never went through, but
I’ll never forget the excitement of the offer.
Vanessa: What
is one thing about you that a reader would find surprising, or never guess, a
dirty little secret?
Rose: That’s
a tough question, I’m pretty much an open book (pun intended), so no dirty
little secret. Readers might be surprised to know I won a talent contest for
singing when I was fourteen. Or that I must have Diet Pepsi in the morning. I’m
probably full of little quirks like that.
Vanessa: I'm a Pepsi gal myself. I LOVE Cherry Pepsi.
Vanessa: What
do you like to do when you're not writing? Do have a favorite hobby to fill you
spare time with?
Rose: Like
I said, I enjoy reading, listening to music, and playing with my Chihuahua. My
husband and I like exploring historic homes, abandoned buildings, or just going
for a drive in the country.
Vanessa: The Hub and I do the country drive abandoned buildings thing regularly. I take the camera along and we cruise around in the Jeep.
Vanessa: I
am a bit of an author stalker, love going to various book & author events.
Do you have any upcoming signings or will you be attending any of the book cons
this year?
Rose: Nothing definitive yet, but I may be a ScareFest. It’s
held in Lexington, KY in November each year. I may have book signings in the
near future.
Vanessa: Can
you share anything interesting about a current work in progress?
Rose: I’m
releasing the next book in the Larue Donavan series next month. The title is
Ghouls Night Out. Over the next months and year, I’m writing the follow-ups in
all my series. I do have a new project, but it’s super secret, so I can’t give
details. Sorry for being such a tease.
Vanessa: How
many books do you have planned for your Veronica Mason series? Will the series
stay Memphis based or will Veronica’s music and other talents take her
traveling?
Rose: I
plan at least three in the series, maybe more. Veronica will definitely do some
traveling.
Vanessa: Out
of all the characters you have written, do you have a favorite, if so why?
Rose: This
is so hard for me to pick. I love all of them for their distinct personalities.
I guess I’d have to pick Veronica though.
Vanessa: I
loved the rockabilly aspect of Rock N
Roll is Undead. Where did the idea to incorporate that into a story come
from?
Rose: I’ve
always loved Rockabilly music. The lifestyle seems fascinating and cool. There
were no other books dealing with the subject, so I thought having a rockabilly
protagonist seemed like a unique twist.
Vanessa: If
you could be any of the characters in your books which one would you want to be
and why?
Rose: I’d
love to sing like Veronica. Performing on stage would be awesome.
Thanks for
having me on your blog, Vanessa!
