This book picks up right where Red-Headed Stepchild left off. Wells does not do any rehashing so it is imperative that you read this series in order. Just like the first book in the series Mage starts off fast with butt kicking action and it does not stop until there are no more pages to turn. The good news, the next in the series is out in March (MAJOR climatic ending!).

                Sabina is relocating to New York and is going to try out life as a mage. Adam is taking her to New York where she will meet her twin sister Maisie for the first time ever. I have to admit I really don’t like the twin, it’s a personal thing. She does not do anything wrong & she is grateful to have her sister in her life. I think she is just a little too perky. She is the opposite of Sabina. I love Sabina as a character. She is flawed and still manages to be kick ass even if she is getting the crap beat out of her. With a new city comes a whole line of new characters. A new male is introduced and we get even more sexual tension than the first book. Giguhl and Adam are the only ones that carry over from the first book. The readers get more of Giguhl in this book.

The mage lifestyle is quite different from the one Sabina has been living her whole life. Her new family has entirely different expectations for her. Sabina previously lived among vampires who saw her mixed blood as a downfall. Her new family sees her as someone who has the potential to do better for herself. Not everyone is going to welcome the long lost sister with open arms. This makes her transition somewhat difficult. The numerous attempts on her life also make new city new life difficult.

I think this quote from the end of the book sums up Sabina life almost perfectly. “It’s funny how someone you thought was an enemy can turn out to be an ally. It’s funny how someone you thought was an ally can turn into your greatest enemy.”
