Readers definitely need to read the other Project Exorcism
books before reading Civil Twilight.
The hero Stegian is none other than the villain from the other books in the
series.
I like it when a book does not go in the obvious direction.
The hero and heroine of Civil Twilight fit
into that little niche. Stegian and Jacquelyn are certainly nontraditional lead
characters. The villain and Janelle who has been in a coma for the past twelve
years are the main characters for this one.
Jacquelyn and how her character went from comatose Janelle
to very knowledgeable female after her man was somewhat unclear. The way that Jacquelyn
was taken through this transition enlightens us to why Stegian wanted her
family wiped off the planet. I liked how that worked out. Stegian’s demon and
Stegian’s sometime bipolar reactions now make complete sense.
I loved that we readers got to see what was going through
Stegian’s mind as the ship he was being exiled on crashed and left him in the predicament
he found himself in. He was one of the supernatural beings that Earth was
ridding themselves of. Other than the information about Project Exorcism
provided at the beginnings of each book, the prologue in this book was very insightful
as to what happened to the supernatural beings.
This is the last of the unmated/single Janelle siblings that
readers have followed from the beginning of the Project Exorcism series. That
means that Mandy is going to have to go find those banished siblings in the far
reaches of space. I’m looking forward to where her writing will take us. The possibilities
are endless.
