It would be so easy to smother this review in quotes. The banter between Criminy and Letitia is phenomenal! I loved this book. I loved the world. I loved Letitia/Tish’s voice. Yes, Wicked as They Come is given to the readers from Letitia’s point of view. I loved everything that came out of Criminy’s mouth too. He has personality in spades. I want my own bludman, clockwork monkey, caravan cart, and magical locket. I knew the moment that the locket was found, where it was hidden that I would love this book.

Tish a home health nurse who has been rebuilding her life for the past three years after a break up with a possessive ass of an ex. She’s working as a hospice nurse and caring for her grandmother. It’s not a glamorous life, but it is hers and she is in control of it. She doesn’t know what she wants, but die to past experiences she knows exactly what she doesn’t want.

Criminy is the Gypsy King of a traveling caravan of performers. He knows exactly what he wants. He has met with a witch, paid dearly for the bargain and obtained the magical locket. What he gets is a woman with huge commitment issues. He is always patient with Letitia. He loves her from the moment he sees her. He just has to use his charm to win her, to make her want to stay with him in Sang.

Sang is a magical, dream like place. Everything there is very similar to the world we live in but it is just different enough to be enchanted and dangerous with a slice of mysterious. Casper describes it perfectly when he tells Letitia “Sang is what would happen if my bookshelf threw up.”

Wicked as They Come is full of exciting adventure, romance and mystic. Once the locket is stolen Letitia goes crazy with having to get it back. Without the locket she is forced to stay in Sang. Her choice to stay has been taken from her. Criminy only wants Letitia to be happy. He vows to help her reacquire the locket. There is much more at play than a bauble being stolen. The reason behind it and who is behind the theft add not only danger to their adventure, but now they must prevent genocide from happening.

Readers are given just enough of the hero of the next book Wicked as She Wants to fall in love with him and impatiently wait for the next book. So peeps, go buy Wicked as They Come Now, and impatiently wait for the next with me.

I recommend this book to people who like paranormal romance with a splash of steampunk. The alternative world has a historical feel with a splash of futuristic.
