Genre: Paranormal Romance
Best read in order: yes
Stars: 5
Flames: 3

Lothaire: refined, regal, beyond arrogant, most likely insane, tailor made cloths, older than dirt

Ellie: back mountain hick, ex con, humble, unbending, second hand jeans and t-shits kind of gal, barely out of her teens

It’s so easy to see how these two are perfectly matched (snorts.) Now, you must read this book just to find out how Lothaire ends up wearing a wife beater, owning a Skoal cap and using NASCAR in a sentence. Really that has to strike your curiosity.

I LOVE bat-crap crazy heroes and Lothaire is walking/tracing a very fine line with the crazy. He is absolutely one of the most arrogant characters that I have ever read. He’s so arrogant that he thinks his actions are normal. Just when you think he could not possibly do anything else hateful to Ellie he manages to one up his last. The fact that Ellie not only takes it, but pushes it back at him is what makes Lothaire such an entertaining read. Their gift exchanging towards the end is a perfect example of this.

Poor Ellie, she’s possessed by Saroya the Soul Reaper, a vampire goddess, a cruel and crazy blood thirsty goddess. Lothaire wants Saroya, not Ellie. He makes abundantly clear right from the beginning. There’s a very devious catch though and I loved it I thought it was so perfectly played. Saroya is very evil, as evil as Lothaire wants his Bride to be. Ellie is strong willed. She wants to either live her life or die to prevent Saroya from doing more evil. The things that Ellie and Saroya do to taunt each other are so evilly wicked.

Lothaire is an emotional roller coaster ride. There are so many shocking, I can’t believe he just did that moments. He is evil. He has always been evil. Do not go into this book and think that he finally getting a Bride will change him. I liked that about the book. At this point readers are twelve books into this series. I would have hated seeing a complete character change for Lothaire. I also think his Bride was perfectly matched for him. Ellie is great, yes she is the polar opposite of Lothaire, but she is also everything that he has ever needed in a Bride.
