Chosen By Sin Tour Stop #4 and Giveaway!

Welcome to stop #4 in my blog tour For Chosen By Sin (Para-Ops #3).

Thank you to The Jeep Diva for having me here today!  This tour focuses on my writing and my paranormal series, but also my Twelve Resolutions for 2012, as well as the resolutions of my hero in Chosen By Sin, werebeast Dex Hunt. Those of you who know Dex know he's a bit...difficult, so I'm curious to see what he comes up with. (Psst: Dex doesn't actually know it, but his “resolutions” are more like a Twelve-Step Program designed by me to get him to his HEA).

I'll be giving away a prize to one commenter from this blog stop, but I'm also giving away one grand prize to one blog tour follower.  See the giveaway details below! :)

The Para-Ops Series: Five years after the Second Civil War ends, humans and Otherborn—humanlike creatures with superhuman DNA—still struggle for peace. To ensure the continued rights of both, the FBI forms a Para-Ops team with a unique set of skills.  (Chosen By Blood (Book 1), Chosen By Fate (Book 2))

So what's Resolution #4 for me?  Organize my home

Ugh.  You don't know how bad things have gotten.  To give you some insight, imagine a night (as in three a.m.) a few months ago when I was flipping through the yellow pages looking at services designed to help hoarders.  Books and I have always been good friends and I have a hard time parting with friends.  And remember I told you in post #1 that I go up and down in weight—well, I keep boxes of clothes in different sizes for those situations.  And things really spiraled out of control when I became serious about promoting my books.  I fell in love with the Dollar Store and innovative but inexpensive swag.  Problem is, I collect more than I give away.  Postage is darn expensive!  So that explains the boxes in my garage.  Don't even get me started on paperwork and keeping up with clothes that fit or don't fit three growing boys under twelve! :)

And what's Resolution #4 for Dex Hunt?

Here's a hint from Chosen By Sin.

“I’m fine. I’ll be inside soon,” Jesmina insisted. “Go.”
Her words were curt and dismissive.

Dex frowned at the air of indifference and command she was emanating, but she’d already turned away. He followed Cy outside. His last glimpse was of her swiping at her forehead with her arm and leaving a swath of blood across her face.

He turned to Cy. “Why don’t you tell me what the hell’s going on? Why am I here?”

Cy stared stonily at him. “Sorry. No can do. But tell you what. If you can read, you might be able to figure out some of it yourself. You can read, can’t you?”

Dex answered the man’s sneer with his own. “How about you read this?” he growled just before he punched Cy in the face.

Okay, so Cy, a dragon-shifter, kind of egged Dex on, but I'd say Dex's #4 resolution is to be less willing to resort to violence, especially when he's not in enemy territory.

Want to see a trailer I made depicting the Para-Ops characters as I see them?  Dex is particularly yummy!  Here's the link: http://on.fb.me/z6Z8nI

Bio: Virna DePaul is a former prosecutor and now national bestselling author of the Para-Ops Novels. She also writes contemporary romantic suspense for Harlequin Romantic Suspense (It Started That Night, May 2012) and HQN (Shades Of Desire, June 2012).

Blurb for Chosen By Sin:

The longest life isn’t always the happiest one…

For now, werebeast Dex Hunt serves on the Para-Ops team, but his true purpose is to kill the werewolf leader he blames for his mother’s death. Biding his time, Dex keeps his emotional distance from his team members and anyone else he might care for, including a mysterious vampire he met in L.A.

As a doctor, vampire Jesmina Martin has dedicated her immortal life to healing others. As a scientific researcher, she’s trying to prolong life spans, in particular those of her adoptive dragon-shifter family and the werewolf who saved her as a child. Her greatest hope lies with Dex, a werebeast she believes can gift immortality to others.

Only Dex knows nothing about his gift or the fact Jesmina wants to harness it. After a passionate night together neither expects to see the other again. Weeks later, they are reunited in France and forced to acknowledge a fragile miracle—a new life struggling to survive. At the same time, they must stop a group of rebel shape-shifters hoping to unleash every demon in hell. But before Dex and Jesmina can save their child or the world, they must relinquish their secrets, face their fears, and open themselves to love.

  1. I came into this series on Wraith's book (I have since rectified my error) and went absolutely bonkers over it! Virna DePaul rocks the written word like nobody's business.

  2. If You really find the secret of organizing everything, please tell me because I am sadly in need of help on that score also. Like you I have a hard time letting go of my books. Even those already read, I worry that I might want to keep it and read it again.

  4. Organize the home....i think you don't imagine mine^^;;. My mother is an an independant so we have box everywhere and we can't throw away anything so it just piling up everywhere.

The situation has reached a breaking point so we try a bit and we discover things we totally forgot. For example the shop is 40years old and we still had all the accounting papers, my father was president of the local association: we have all the papers. Totally crazy.
In fact as soon as we want to put something ( paper, plush etc) somewhere safe, we lost it.^^ critical point ^^;; ( but nobody touch my books! they are organized ok only for me but still^^;;)

So i wish you good luck with that because it take times

    all the best

  9. Hoarding runs in my family. My maternal grandmother, has an apartment so full of stuff (junk to the rest of us) that you can barely walk from room to room. She never throws anything out, because someone, somewhere, someday might need it. Never mind that if that person showed up, she wouldn't 1) remember she had it 2) know where to find it 3) agree to let it go without giving the recipient the third degree to make sure that it was going for some useful purpose. Our family has a hard & fast rule. If grandma asks you if you would like something, say yes & get it out of the apartment. Even if you stop at the first garbage can you see to throw it away.

I have to fight not to exhibit that same behavior.

  13. I used to keep bags and boxes of clothes in the attic that were either too small or too large because my weight goes up and down so often due to health issues. Then one day I realized that needing clothes that fit was a good excuse to go shopping! Now it get's donated if it doesn't fit! I also started paring down my house after having to deal with cleaning out my parents home to sell it.

  16. I have no choice but to stay organized. I just downsized from a 3 bedroom house into a small cottage. If I wasn't organized I would be living in piles of stuff.

Dex's #4 resolution is to not solve every issue with violence.

Hmm... learning how to control your temper, not to act with "shoot first, ask questions later". That's a bit tough considering its what he knows best. But it can be done. Anything's possible! Oh and I agree with you about books. Just love them! Throwing away things when you think you might need them? Yeah, agree with you there too. And the organizing. I absolutely love the way your mind works!

  19. I'm slowly making my way through the house doing the organizing thing also, as I just have to much crap. I try to concentrate in one area instead of the whole house since it makes it a bit more manageable. I finished the kitchen cabinets over the holidays and am now digging into the office/book area. Sigh, that one is going to be hard as I LOVE all my books.

I haven't had the chance to read Virna's work but would love the opportunity to do so. It looks right up my alley!

Good luck with your resolutions and will check in with to see what the next one is. :)
