Review: Adam's Angel by Mandy M Roth

eBook, 57 pages
Published January 9th 2012 by Raven Books
ISBN 13: 9781452453286
Source: Author, for the purpose of an honest review
Genre: Fantasy Romance
Best read in order: yes
Stars: 3
Flames: 3

This is the second in the League of Unnatural series and features Adam, a magik user, and Tori.  Adam has been half in love with Tori for the better part of while they prepare to try a case against a criminal bent on branding all supernaturals as evil.  Tori is the prosecuting attorney and Adam was part of the supernatural team that captured the defendant.  Although Tori seems oblivious to Adam’s interest in her she does find him attractive but doesn’t see herself as someone he would be attracted to.

This book takes place about a year after the first book and while you get to interact with all the League members again, this book has more focus on Adam and Tori. I would have liked a little more as a resolution.  There are some things that happen behind the scenes that we hear about later but I would have liked to be part of the action, not learn about it second hand. Other than that it was a very good addition to the series.  I am hoping there are many more in this series to come.

Review: Pike's Peak by Mandy M Roth

eBook, 36 pages
Published February 3rd 2011 by The Raven Books (first published 2006)
ISBN 13: 2940012105059
Source: Author, for the purpose of an honest review
Genre: Fantasy Romance
Stars: 3
Flames: 2

This is a super short read, only 36 pages but Roth packs a lot into that space. This is the first in a series about a group called the League. It is made up of beings with supernatural powers that help protect mankind.

This story sets up the series and introduces the main characters. While most of the book is just one scene that features all the characters, we are getting to know Pike and Adria the best. Pike is a shape shifter that has very protective instincts when it comes to his best friend’s sister, Adria. Adria has the ability to be a sexual lure to the opposite sex as well as some other gifts that would be a spoiler so you have to read this yourself to find out more. We also meet Adria’s brother Adam, whom the next book in the series is about as well as their last member of their team, Lars.

I enjoyed this book for what it was, a very short intro to the series. I will keep reading to see what happens next.  The world that Roth created seemed very interesting to me and I would like to see where she goes from here.

*Note: This is rated as a 2 on flames because there is only one sex scene most likely due to it being so short. However, the one scene has explicit language and is somewhat graphic so it may be considered more flame-worthy to others.*
